While We Were Watching is a performative memorial honoring the victims of femicide.
Seven women are killed every day in Mexico. By the time, I do this performance, I have been in Mexico for 17 days. I cast a circle of salt and use my body as an altar. I light 119 candles in memory of each life lost and 1 candle representing the rest of us who have survived.
